The Counting Game:

The Counting on a cloud game by Funschool is a fun game for preschoolers who are learning basic counting skills and number recognition. The goal of this game is to teach children how to count, using pictures, numbers, and sounds. Children are required to pick the difficulty level at the top of the window. There are 2 levels to choose: 1=easy; 2=harder. If the child is playing at level 1, children would first click a picture on the left follow by clicking a number on the right. Children will see the picture they have chosen being counted out to reach the number they have picked. However if the child is playing at level 2, children would again click a picture on the left first and would have to count how many of the picture has appear and den click the correct number on the right.

This game from Funschool is a well recommended website for children to be engaged in a fun and interactive learning whereby children will be able to experience learning in a much different way. The pictures for children to click on are icons that children are familiar with and are normally exposed to such as dog, rabbit, frog, car and etc. Moreover, with its colourful and attractive pictures and animation, children will be more interested to learn counting and recognize numbers. In addition, in level 1 of the game, there is a sound whereby it counts together when the picture icon appears. Thus, children are able to verbalize the numbers and count together as they play the game. Through this game, children will no longer feel that learning to count is a boring or uninteresting matter anymore.

The Fetch and Spell game:

The Fetch and Spell game by CBeebies is a game made to help children to recognize alphabets and begin to spell words by starting with simple words such as bag, bun,dog and etc. This game is suitable for preschoolers aged 3 and above. This game is fun and interactive as children get to play the maze and fetch alphabets to form a simple word. At the same time, children also get to know how to spell words. In order to play this game, children would first pick the difficulty level followed by picking a character to play with. After which an alphabet would appear on the top right hand corner and children would have to use the arrow buttons to fetch the alphabet that is in the maze. In addition, the phonetic sound of the alphabet is produced while the child is trying to fetch the correct alphabet. Each time the correct alphabet is fetched, a “well done” sound will be heard.

This game is helpful for children who have difficulties spelling simple words and find it a difficult task for them. The pictures and sounds that produced are stimulating and educational for the children as they play this game of fetch and spell. The phonetic sound of the alphabet that is produced helps children to learn pronunciation of each alphabet and the simple maze enables children to find their way to look for the alphabet that is required to form the word. Hence, through finding the alphabet in the maze, children will be able to recognize the alphabets as well as know which alphabets are used to form a word. Thus, through this fun and interesting game, children will slowly develop an interest to learn spelling of words.
